METHODOLOGY FOR RELOCATING MOOSE
Abstract
Several different drugs and methods of translocating Shiras moose (Alces alces shirasi) from urban and population areas are evaluated. Since 1988, 126 moose were successfully translocated with 7 mortalities. The advantages and disadvantages of different drugs and drug combinations for capturing moose are discussed and recommendations on the kinds of equipment found suitable for transporting and handling of immobilized moose are presented.
